Winner of Dance India Dance : Grand Finale of Dance Reality Show on Zee TV May 30, 2009 by Ravi Dixit

Dance India Dance (DID)is a dance reality show on Indian Television on Zee TV and tonight the Grand Finale is being telecast where the winner will be announced. The show has done really well for Zee TV and whistle all the other Indian General Entertainment Channels (GECs) like Star Plus and Colors were showing decline in their ratings during the IPL, DID was one the key reasons that Zee TV bridged the ratings gap with Star Plus and Colors.

Star Plus and Colors have been locked in a battle to become the number 1 GEC in India and Zee TV was relegated to the number three spot. With DID and Choti Bahu in the afternoon contributed to the steady growth of the channel. Out of the total GRPs that Zee TV gets in a week, last week it got 19% from this one show; followed by Agle Janam Mujhe Bitiya Hi Kijo with 16%; and Choti Bahi with 16%. These percentage can be thought as % of viewer or that 51% of all viewership comes from these three shows. This when Choti Bahu was played 21 times last week, Agle Janam was played 18 times and DID was played only 11 times.

The impact of this programming initiative was so huge that Zee TV narrowed the GRP gap with the leader Colors (week 21) to about 15 GRPs and 13 GRPs behind Star Plus. Essentially what this means is that when the other two GECs fell due to Semi Finals of IPL Zee TV maintained its position and all the three GEC are pretty close to each other.

The grand finale is very important as this is the first big programming finale that Zee TV has put forward and they are expecting to match the surge in ratings that other GECs wil have. Anyway they are launching two new show to keep their march going with two new programs viz. App Ki Antra at 8:30 PM and Pavitra Rishta 9 PM on Zee TV.

23:42 IST Salman Khan has been declared the winner of Dance India Dance and he get a contract worth INR 5 Million and a chance to perform in the Movie "Wanted" Directed by South Indian Dancing Superstar Prabhu Deva.

Salman Khan thanks GOD and Says " Ya Khuda Tera Shukriya" and thanks his mom and all the fans, Bonny invited him to his shoot with Salamn Khan tomorrow.

Salman won the show after getting 8,91,643 votes, Alisha is the first runners up with 8,43,172 votes, Siddhesh is second runners up with 7,79,376 votes.

23:28 IST After the turn of Geeta Kapoor who performed in the beginning of the show, Terrance in the middle, it is the turn of Remo to performance after training the wards for 18 weeks, all the masters have performed one by one. Once again the three remaining finalists are performing on Tha Kar Ke. Siddhesh, Salman and Alisha are performing. Now after 3 and a half hours of programming the show is now dragging and is sure to put off the audiences. As the final winner is still not out.

Lux The Best Performance of the Series Award:- Presented by Ahmed Khan and Jeetendra :- The Winner is Salman. This after 18 weeks of dancing performances. Is this a consellation prize? Lets hope not !!!

22:46 IST Terrance did a super act hanging on the strings and the public erupts in applause. This act is followed by another act by Salman and Alisha. Now Alisha is swinging on the strings and she lifts the performance and Salman into the sky. They are virtually dancing suspended in midair. This kind of acts have never been seen on any dance reality show in India. UTV the production house has really done an awesome job of this Grand Finale. This song was choreographed by Terrance.

The Winner of Online Voting dual dance performance award is presented by Rajshri & Divyanka from Zee serial Dulhan and the winner is Jai and Rushali.

22:09 IST The contestant with least number of votes and is the first to go out is Jai!! The race is between the three contestants left. Jai bids a tearful farewell and promises his mom that he will stay in bollywood and will take her all over the globe.

Rakhi Sharma and Paulson now take the stage for performance on Nagada Nagada from Jab (When) We Met. Mauja hi Mauja the second number on which they danced Rakhi is moving totally Bindass!!!

Paulson is recounting how he he got eliminated when his parents came to watch him for the first time :-) Mithun da is pairing Rakhi from Leeds and Paulson and Paulson calls Rakhi his sister and Jeetendra is seen smiling in the audience.

22:00 IST Saumya announces that it is for the first time in Asia that a dance show Finale is being telecast Live! Now we all wait for the person who will be the first one to go out! Saumya is funbling, a better compere would have added some more spark to the show. Co host Jai is sitting with parents of Alisha and Salman. And the first one to go out; who got the least votes is Jai. Now the fight is between the rest of the three contestants.

21:41 IST Siddhesh actually set his hands on fire and in the process got the audiences super excited with his act. He danced on Omkara! He is beingcalled Maharashtra Ka Gaurav or Pride of Maharashtra and as the show is in Mumbai he got a rousing welcomg from Mumbai. Now Alisha Seth from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh is coming on the stage for her last performance in Dance India Dance stage. To be honest not a great performance so far. A dress change and now the performance picks up!!

21:28 IST Jai goes first in a series of solo performance by the four finalists post which the name of the contestant with lowest votes will be announced. He is dancing to the tunes of Main Hoon Don; full smoke and mirrors literally!!

Stunner performance of Kamlesh Patel who is dancing on his hands as his legs are paralyzed; and guess what he is dancing on "I am a DISCO DANCER" . Rocking performance from this guy from Baroda. This is the best thing about Zee shows they have some great people on the show. Kamlesh Patel actually got on to the stage on a wheel chair and set it rocking!! Simply Amazing!! No doubt the show has set the ratings charts ablaze.

21:08 Performance by 6 hot girls on songs ranging from Choli Ke Peeche, Ringa Rings and pelvic thrusts in abundance has got the audience attention for sure. Belly and Bosom!!
The act by girls is followed by a similar act by boys; it is a battle of sexes, for a change it is very difficult to decide who is doing better?

21:01 IST Alka Yagnik and Abhijit are coming on the stage for the battle of sexes they are singing on Ladjaani a take off on Marjani of Billu, Thenga a take off on Ringa Ringa and many other songs. The grand idea is to promote their new show SA RE GA MA PA Little Champs; a sure short format that has done wonders for the channel in the past. This year Alka Yagnik and Abhijit have selected 55 kids from all across India. These will be shortlisted to 6 boys and 6 girls for the final on air show. The show is launching on 5th June hero Honda SA RE GA ME PA Little Champs at 8 PM Friday. This is very common to promote the next show in the current program.

Looks like Zee TV is not giving up its claim to be India's number 1 Hindi GEC and want to keep the momentum going.

20:49 IST Winner of Viewers Choice Award by Online Poll - Mayuresh

Viewers Choice best solo performance award that was decided by online polling was won by Mayuresh for his act on the song Dil Se. Other contenders were Jai, Prince, Alisha. The award was presented by Kaka Punjabi and Rakshanda Khan. Of course after taking the award he repeated his award winningperformance for the live audience.

Grand Finale of Dance India Dance and how it rolled out the winner.

The Grand Finale of the show opened with the dance act of Mithun Da on Yaad Aa Raha Hai Tera Pyar; followed by One Love. Mithun Chakraborty Bollywood Super star from yesteryears is one of the biggest draws of the show. He welcomed everybody to the Sabse Bade Dancing Star Ki Khoj (Find the biggest Dancer Star in India). At this stage there are four finalists in the fray and their fate will be decided in front of live studio. The finalists are as under. Siddhesh, Jai Kumar Nair, Salman Khan, Alisha Seth from Jhansi.

These four are fighting for the Golden Cap; Sunhari Takdir Ki Topi :-).

Mithun Da welcomes the three Grand Masters Remo D Souza, Geeta Kapoor & Terence Lewis on the stage. The crowd is super charged and looks like a great evening is in store.

20:36 IST Geeta Kapoor takes the stage with a Dance Performance and starts it with a classical dance performance and shifts to shake a leg on Desi Girl and is really moving and shaking and setting the stage on fire. Hopefully the contestants act that will follow will be as hot.
